Inspiration-Bathroom Love

Be still my heart...  This bathroom is insanely beautiful.  I've never seen beveled mirrors quite like this before and it's definitely a modern cut compared to the style you see in most homes today.  So fresh!

Hope everyone had a safe weekend and have a Marvelous Monday!

How To Make Pretties In Your Home

So I thought about posting the before and afters of Courtney Cox's Malibu home but I think E! News and Yahoo have done a pretty good job covering that Elle Decor story..  So I started perusing all of the inspiration photos I've been collecting and realized how many "designer" rooms have items that we have available in our store.  These designers and rooms have been featured in magazines like Veranda, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, and our very own At Home in Arkansas..  You get the picture.  We love the rich history our antiques have and wanted to breathe new life into them.  That was the single reason why we opened Red Door Living.  To give our area a place to shop for truly one-of-a-kind pieces.  And since we source our antiques direct from China, our prices are shockingly low--we're not going through a middle-man.  Take a look at these designer rooms with antiques and accessories very similar to ours to show you that your own home can look like it belongs in one of those beautiful shelter magazines as well.

Featured in Canadian House & Home magazine

I'd say these look identical to the ones above!  And they are the only set we have in this pattern, making them pretty darn exclusive :)

I accidentally saved over this one and can't find the source but I think it's House Beautiful?

The picture doesn't do this screen justice!  It's two-sided with a different pattern on the back and in person, it looks like it was made with gold leaf.

This..

Or this piece..  The hardware is outrageously beautiful!

Rare Ancestor paintings--we have a pair :)

We have a very talented decorator on staff who can help incorporate these pieces into your home as well.  All you have to do is stop by and ask!

Have a lovely Thursday and hopefully, the sun pops back out!

All-Time Favorite Courtyard in Texas

I stumbled across these photos while perusing the Cote de Texas blog the other day and about fell out of my chair when I saw this courtyard!  There is just something about courtyards that makes me go bananas and I can't put my finger on it.  I've always preferred their small, intimate settings and the way they can be transformed into outdoor rooms more easily than a wide-open backyard.  I'm going to miss my own pretty soon here and wish I could pick it up and plop it down in Rogers.  I love to entertain and I felt mine is the perfect setting with French doors opening to the fountain and flagstone patio.  I've hosted many a gathering out there on summer nights and am fortunate that my neighbors still speak to me.  This courtyard, however, is my all-time favorite, complete with a plunge pool and two separate seating areas and multiple sets of French doors leading out to it.  Just gorgeous!

Aren't those planters gorgeous!!  We have lots of sizes and styles still available in store and I'm thinking of placing a few on Craig's deck to replicate this look.

Wouldn't these look amazing with a grassy plant?  Or boxwoods?

Love!  Love!  Love!

So now that you've seen the courtyard, are you imagining what the rest of the house looks like?  Here's the front...

Where's the front door are you asking??

There are two courtyards...  I'm now beside myself.

Pst.  There's a dog in this photo..  See it?

And how about that island..

And did you see that wooden bowl?  Kind a looks like this, huh?

The French doors leading out to themostamazingcourtyardever are just killing me!!  Along with the fireplace.  I die.

While this home certainly has a healthy dose of French charm, I do love all of the knick knack's and rustic pieces that help give it an eclectic look as well.  Now that you've seen how to pull this look together, come check out our inventory of unique pots and eclectic pieces to freshen up your indoor and outdoor spaces!

PS- We blog about gorgeous spaces every day so be sure to "add" us if you're on blogger and if not, click on the big Red Door Living at the top of this page and then bookmark us!  We love to share rooms and spaces that inspire us and hope that they inspire you too!

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Colorful and Eclectic by Miles Redd

"When someone understands how to live and how to arrange a room, and everywhere you look there is something beautiful, that's what makes a room luxurious.  When it has a sense of drama--a cinematic quality--and you want to spend time in it."  -Miles Redd

Well said, Miles, well said.

Feast your pretty eyes on this colorful and eclectic Manhattan apartment designed by the one-and-only Miles Redd.  I can't get over the ruffled drapes (how much fun would those be in a little girl's room?!) and the chinoiserie print on blue India tea paper in the Master bedroom.

My favorite characteristic of his designs are how collected each of his rooms look.  It's as if the homeowners have always owned every piece but needed a little help in placing them.  I find so much inspiration in his designs and never tire of looking at the same apartment over and over again.  And check out the doors in these pics--he pays extra attention to them in every project and they're always dressed up in some manor.

On a short note, a big THANK YOU to all who came out to our party on Friday to support Head Start!  We had a wonderful time and the turnout was amazing!!  All three of our artists were there to mingle and meet you all but if you didn't have a chance to make it by, we still have all of their pieces up if you'd like to have a look-see.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Light and Airy

I'm getting my run on today in this heat and can't. wait.  Crazy, me thinks.

Something about sun-filled rooms done in a neutral palate with an ocean backdrop makes my heart skip a beat.

It's time for another trip!  Seattle, New York, and Aspen are on the horizon in the coming weeks and although it's unlikely for me to see a view such as this, all three climates are guaranteed to be cooler than here and that alone is worth celebrating!

See you soon!

Inspirations for My Home

The fiance left for Kuala Lumpur yesterday but before he left, he gifted me with his approval to begin renovating and decorating his (and soon to be ours) home!  It didn't take away the teensey bit of nerves I get when he boards an airplane knowing I won't hear from him for a day and a half while he travels around the world.  But it did give me a brief bit of excitement and anticipation at making his space "ours"!  Now I don't want to sound ungrateful, but his home is not "homey" or "comfy" or any adjective that would end in a "y"..  It's large, cold, and is going to need a lot of work to make it livable (see, he reads this so I'm just building up the expectation here ladies).  I'm sure we will both learn A LOT about the word "compromise" in our first year of marriage, which I am totally down with.  You can't have everything you want.  On a side note,  I'm very fortunate that my sweetie has amazing taste!  So now that he's granted me permission to start, all of a sudden, I can't decide which directions I want to go in!  Funny how that happens..  I've amassed so many room inspirations, color inspirations, furniture inspirations, etc and it's finally time to mull over them and start making decisions.  I'm a little overwhelmed..  In fairness though, I am getting married in approximately 7 weeks, at a destination, so I'm sure that has something to do with the overwhelmedness syndrome.  Enough with the talking, here are a few of the room inspirations I've collected over the last few months:

Master Bedroom maybe?  In different colors

I'm obsessed with the black walls and turquoise antique rug--would go great with the carmel-color leather Milo Baughman chairs I already have

Love this wallpaper and turquoise again--thinking something along these lines for the Master

Or we could do one wall in a graphic wallpaper in the Master and keep it fresh and modern?

This hardware is bananas.  Along with the backsplash.

Love the grasscloth wallpaper--maybe in a powder bath?

And this for the Dining Room?

Family Room

Formal Living--loving that fireplace

Love the beautiful colors of this room

And my sweetie would love the masculinity of this room

Upstairs bath idea

Our offices

This copper pendant would be perfect above the cooktop in our kitchen
 Rug inspiration

Color inspiration--carmel and dusty rose

 Smokey mirrored fireplace = GLAM

And for some reason, I've been obsessed with putting these drapes in his family room?  The ceilings are nearly 20ft tall so they would definitely be striking!

I have tons more but really need to weed through them and start a mood board.  And since our style is a little more bohemian meets Hollywood glam meets the Emporor of China, I'm sure it's going to be interesting..

Have a fabulous Tuesday!
